Wendy Lauzon
I am a retired educator who has loved work with fibre my whole life. When I studied for my art degree after my retirement, I had the opportunity to learn tapestry weaving, and it opened up a whole new fibre world for me.
Making is what I do; a maker is who I am. Tapestry has provided another means for me to express myself. I love the meditative state the repetitive motions instill while building the images, and the constant contact I have with the materials.
I am an emerging artist, so my tapestry weaving is still evolving. My limited work shifts between very pictorial to more abstract/conceptual. I am influenced by other tapestry weavers from whom I seek inspiration by studying their varied styles and techniques. I am still learning about myself as a weaver!
