Velma Hudson
I’m retired and spend many happy days weaving, gardening, cross country skiing and walking.
I weave because I love the way threads intertwine and make wonderful cloth. I love that you can make curved lines with straight interlocking threads, but currently I’m obsessed with geometric figures – squares, lines, rectangles. I’ve recently upgraded to an eight-shaft floor loom and am amazed at what it can do.

"Olive", four-shaft double-weave, 2/8 orlec, 2020 (My submission was my “final project” for year four of the Olds College, Master Weaver program where we were assigned a colour and everything else – design, weave structure, material, was up to us. I was assigned my favourite colour green, in my least favourite shade, olive. I wove a double weave runner I call Olive. Olive green has become a new favourite.)
