Louise Smith
I find weaving very relaxing, creative and fullfilling. I have set up half of the lower level of our house as a studio and have six looms and often projects on at least three at a time. That way I can weave depending on my mood on the appropriate project.
I am always thinking about the next project. I enjoy designing and all aspects of the warping process. Once I weave fabric and see the result, I sometimes would like someone else to weave the warp off so I could go on to another project plan.
I like demonstrating at fairs, and promoting weaving and spinning. I believe in teaching others and have developed several workshops when people tell me of their needs.

"Trapezoid Turquoise Cape", Woven on eight shafts in shadow weave using a pattern from Marion Powell's Book, Mohair 60% & wool 40% spun blend, hand dyed in black and several turquoise and blue dye baths with telana protein dyes, 6 yards of 45 inch width fabric woven, 2017 Cape Fits a wide range of sizes from medium & short to large & tall. Fabric was fulled, steam pressed and then cut and sewn. I seamed the center back seam which matched up perfectly. I bought cording and made my own frog fasteners. I added piping down the front side seams and added pockets in those seams. The collar was lined with a cotton fabric to protect a tender neck from possible wool itch. A commercial lining was machine sewn in at the collar and down the front to face it and then hand stitched along the hem line and attached by hand to the curved shoulder seams.
